Isolation and Loneliness
Daisy Chain specialise in combating isolation and loneliness. Our staff have completed training on isolation and loneliness and are activity involved in encouraging our clients to feel socially included within their community. We have our own social inclusion committee who arrange activities outside the home or inside as appropriate. We have received feedback from relatives who are surprised and pleased their loved ones are getting involved with our events.
The committee consists of a senior carer and three carers who have already arranged several successful events. The Christmas parties are very popular with our clients and their family members. Last year we had a lovely afternoon get together. A choir from a local primary school entertained us all, followed by a raffle and afternoon tea. The previous Christmas we had an afternoon Christmas tea, raffle and party games and the carers all dressed up as Elves. Father Christmas also made an appearance. We have also enjoyed several trips out to a local tea room where clients meet up for tea, cake and a chat. All activities arranged by the committee is fully funded by Daisy Chain.
For those clients who prefer company in their own homes, this too can be arranged.
Our clients have a phone number which they are able to ring, 24 hours a day should they feel lonely, or just need someone to chat to.
'Jessie' the Therapy Dog
Jessie the Daisy dog has been visiting all the clients in recent weeks. Jessie loves meeting new people and loves a treat. Many of our clients used to have a pet but can no longer, so really enjoyed seeing Jessie. One client commended what a 'fantastic idea' this was and that it has 'made her day'. It has proven that this form of therapy decreases anxiety, promotes feelings of wellbeing and brings back memories. Jessie is a huge success with our clients and will be making rounds again soon!

The Daisy Chain Support team held a Christmas party for their clients. This was a fabulous event with food, music, a raffle, games and the local school choir sang Christmas carols. All that came were delighted with the afternoon they had and even got to take home some leftover for their tea.
